Editorial Policy & Rating Methodology
Last updated: March 31, 2026. This document explains how LTCNigeria selects, evaluates, and ranks cryptocurrency platforms for selling Litecoin in Nigeria.
Independence Commitment
Our editorial team operates independently of our commercial team. Platform rankings are determined exclusively by our 10-criteria scoring model (described below). No platform can pay to be included, excluded, or ranked higher. Affiliate relationships are disclosed on every page and do not affect scores.
Platform Selection Criteria
To be considered for ranking, a platform must:
- Support Litecoin (LTC) as a sellable asset with NGN payout
- Accept Nigerian users and Nigerian bank transfers (GTBank, Access, Zenith, UBA, First Bank or equivalent)
- Have been operating continuously for at least 12 months
- Implement basic KYC or identity verification procedures prior to NGN withdrawal. Regulatory licence status (including SEC Nigeria VASP licence, where held) is assessed separately as a scoring criterion — it is not a binary requirement for inclusion.
The 10-Criteria Scoring Model
Each platform is scored 1–10 on each criterion. Criteria weights are shown in parentheses.
1. Exchange Rate / Spread (20%)
We monitor LTC/NGN rates across all platforms in real time. Platforms offering rates closest to the mid-market rate with the lowest spread score highest. We measure rates for $50, $200, and $500 equivalent LTC amounts to capture volume-dependent pricing.
2. NGN Payout Speed (20%)
We time the end-to-end process: from submitting a sell order to receiving NGN in a Nigerian bank account. We test with major Nigerian commercial banks where supported by the platform. Bank availability varies by platform — we note which platforms confirm specific bank support in their documentation. Faster, more consistent payouts score higher.
3. Fee Transparency (10%)
We evaluate whether all fees (trading fee, withdrawal fee, network fee, spread) are clearly disclosed before a user confirms a transaction. Hidden fees cause score deductions.
4. KYC Level (10%)
We assess the KYC requirements against SEC Nigeria's standards. Platforms implementing BVN/NIN verification and appropriate document checks score well. Platforms with no KYC are excluded from our ranking.
5. NGN Withdrawal Options (10%)
Platforms supporting more Nigerian banks and instant bank transfers score higher. We assess which Tier 1 banks (GTBank, Zenith, Access, UBA, First Bank) each platform confirms as supported, and test payouts where bank support is documented by the platform.
6. Security Standards (15%)
We evaluate: SSL/TLS certificate status; availability of 2FA and other multi-factor authentication options; cold vs hot wallet ratio (where disclosed); and history of security incidents.
7. Customer Support (5%)
We test support response times via live chat, email, and phone (where available). We measure first-response time and resolution quality for a standard LTC-to-NGN query.
8. Mobile App Quality (5%)
We evaluate iOS and Android app ratings on the App Store / Google Play, test core sell LTC flows on mobile, and assess UI clarity for Nigerian-specific payment flows.
9. User Reviews (2.5%)
We aggregate verified user review scores from Trustpilot, Google Play, and App Store, filtered for Nigerian user reviews specifically mentioning LTC or NGN transactions.
10. Regulatory Compliance (2.5%)
We note SEC Nigeria VASP licence status where held. For platforms operating without a local VASP licence, we assess their published AML/KYC framework, FATF alignment, and compliance with CBN's December 2023 guidelines and ISA 2025 requirements. Licence status is one input into the overall compliance score.
Review Frequency
Rankings are reviewed monthly. Significant market events (rate changes, regulatory updates, security incidents) trigger immediate re-evaluation. The date of last update is displayed on every ranked page.
